Architect Collaborations - 1st and 2nd year

1st Year collaboration project

In the second semester of our 1st year we were lucky enough to take part in a collaboration with the architecture department in a small week long workshop. It allowed us to work equally on a small project to work on team skills.

We were given the brief to design a piece of furniture with a child in mind and we we would be reviewed by several children from a local school. Our design consisted of a half egg shaped padded seat which was coated in a color changing paint. It mean that as the child sat on the chair, the heat created would leave an imprint on the chair. There was also a matching foot stool/ drawing table.

The chair is fashionable modeled by Alison Rankin.

2nd year collaboration project

The same thing happened again in our second year with the title " occupation ". We had to create a physical response to the word occupation. Whether was being occupied ( a job ) something is occupied ( a toilet ) . So we looked at occupying a personal space and how homelessness is effected by this.

We took a photo of our high street and implanted the image of a homeless man in the back ground. Staggering important parts of the image forward meant that he was forced to the back, out of sight, which is what happens all the time with the homeless.
